My 5 favorites to start the school year

Have your social feeds been bombarded with first day of school shots? I’m guilty as charged! Three of my four kids went happily off to school yesterday morning, and it felt like we hadn’t skipped a beat. However, this time of year isn’t just about our kids, it is about us grown-ups as well! Post-Labor Day is an opportunity to press the reset button at work or at home… it’s kind of like a mini-new year without the holiday hangover.

These sticky notes are my absolute favorite new item that we have in store! It’s brought to you by one of our stellar West Coast brands, Poketo. We use it to keep track of our hectic family schedule (fill out and stick on the fridge) but you could use it at work or for menu planning. Once the week is done, just tear off the sheet and enjoy your sense of accomplishment.

I am always on the hunt for the perfect tote for papers, books, and my laptop. The Rosa Tote by Mercado Global is my pick for fall with its rich colors and cotton pom poms (a little whimsy left over from summer!). I love the ethos of this company, too. Every piece is hand-woven by indigenous women artisans in the highlands of Guatemala and each purchase goes directly to artisan communities, helping mothers send their kids to school (what could be more fitting?).

Can I just say, this is the best idea ever? I don’t know about you, but my family certainly suffers from having our devices with us at all times. This “home” for mobile devices can be hung at the door so that everyone who walks in can promptly deposit their phones into this beautifully designed and functional home decor piece.

A cute chalkboard, like this one by Luvloo, is the perfect place to write messages and to allow budding artists to doodle. It’s great for reminders, grocery lists and quick to-dos.

This is so fun to play with at your desk. No matter how much you try to tip it over, it always finds a way back up! It basically serves as a beautifully designed fidget spinner!

I have finally found the perfect lunch bag for my kids. This shark zipper lunch bag is made of organic cotton and has a washable lining with an interior pocket and a zip closure making it functional and super cool too.

Whether you’re sending kids off to school this month or not, take advantage of the buzz in the air to get organized, make big plans and set yourself up for success in these last few months of the year.
